Terms of use

The rules for using Tinselby’s free Secret Santa draw, in plain words. By running a draw or opening a private link, you agree to them.

Last updated

The short version

  • The draw is free. You don’t need a card.
  • Only add people who are taking part in your exchange.
  • A private link opens one envelope for whoever has it, so send each link only to its person.
  • Keep wishlists, notes and questions kind. We can delete anything that isn’t.
  • We delete your group 30 days after the exchange date, or 60 days after you created it if no date is set.

What Tinselby does

Tinselby is run by Draft Labs Pte. Ltd., a company in Singapore (“we” in these terms). By using Tinselby, you agree to these terms.

Tinselby runs a Secret Santa draw from one page. An organizer adds the names and can add a budget, an exchange date and people to keep apart. Our server makes the pairs and seals them. Each person gets a private link that shows who they’re buying for, the budget, the date and their person’s wishlist.

The draw is free. A paid Office edition for big work groups is coming. Nothing is charged unless you choose it and see the price first.

Organizing a draw

The organizer is the only person who gives us an email. We use it to send your admin link, which signs you in to your group’s admin page. Keep that email to yourself: anyone who can open the link can manage your group.

Only add people who are taking part, and only add details they’d be happy for the group to see. First names or nicknames are fine.

From the admin page you can change the budget, currency and date, and resend a private link. The admin page never shows who drew whom.

To organize a draw, you need to be old enough to agree to terms like these where you live.

What you write

Participants can write a wishlist, a one-line note about what they’re into, anonymous questions and answers. What you write stays yours. You let us store it and show it to the people in your group so the exchange works.

Anonymous questions never show the sender’s name to the person who receives them. Don’t use them, or anything else on Tinselby, to harass, threaten or embarrass anyone, and don’t write anything unlawful or anyone else’s private details. We may delete content, or a whole group, that breaks these rules.

Gift ideas

Suggest gift ideas asks an AI model for five ideas based on your person’s wishlist and note, each within the budget when one is set. The ideas and prices are suggestions, not offers: check the item, the price and the delivery date before you buy. Tinselby doesn’t sell gifts, and each private link can ask for a limited number of ideas.

How long we keep your group

We delete a group’s names, pairs, wishlists and questions 30 days after its exchange date. If no date is set, we delete them 60 days after the group was created. After that, the group’s private links stop working.

Our Privacy page explains what we store and who can see it.

When things go wrong

We provide Tinselby as it is and as available. We work to keep it running and every draw sealed, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.

Sending links, buying gifts and running the exchange are up to you and your group, and we’re not responsible for them. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore can hear any dispute about them. If you use Tinselby as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Using Tinselby after a change means you accept the new terms.
